Aptasutra 927

If you deal obstinacy with obstinacy in this world; resolution will not come. Simplicity against obstinacy will bring about resolution.

One is to cross this ocean in the form of obstinacy. We are standing on this side of obstinacy and we have to go to the other side. If someone becomes instrumental in removing your obstinacy; do not be disturbed about it, consider him to be extremely beneficial and undergo that experience with equanimity.

Flowing egoism is not objectionable but if it is caught-up even a little-bit; it is known as obstinacy. Flowing egoism is dramatic egoism. It is not problematic.

Where there is no authority, there is egoism and where there is authority, there is no egoism. This is the wonder of ‘Gnani Purush!’ ‘Gnani Purush’ is the manifest light.

To run the worldly life, Egoism is not required. To bind [karma] for the next life, Egoism is required. If one doesn't want the bondage for the next life, then also it is possible to conduct the worldly life without egoism. Entire worldly life is in the 'discharge' form. The awareness that 'I am the doer' goes away and we give the understanding of 'who the doer is'. Therefore, 'charging' (of karma) stops! What is left now? Only the 'discharge' is left.

The mind and the chit are discharging and the world has believed them to be 'charge'. That is why they attempt to still the mind and the chit, but that is not possible.
